Ken Hibl

City Manager, Clare

Ken Hibl has served as the city manager of Clare for the past 19 years. Prior to this appointment, he served in the U.S. Armed Forces for 31 years in leadership positions in armor, aviation, law enforcement, installation management, and the U.S. diplomatic service in various locations in Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Africa, the Caribbean, and  within the United States. He attained the rank of colonel.

Hibl is also Rotarian; a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Clare; serves on multiple boards and committees within his community; a current Trustee of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Municipal League; a current Trustee of the Board of Directors of the MML Property & Liability Pool; a member of the International City & County Management Association.

Hibl is also actively involved in the Michigan Municipal Executives, having previously served as a board member and a member of the Ethics Committee.  He currently serves as a member of MME’s Advocacy Committee. Hibl’s tireless mentoring efforts and numerous internship opportunities in developing tomorrow’s municipal executives date back more than a decade to 2004 with Municipal Executive Adam Smith.
