Pat McGinnis | Advocacy Committee Chair
As I wrap up my term as chair of your Advocacy Committee, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve shared over the past three years. We’ve met 30 times, and in each of those meetings, we’ve pushed forward new ideas and initiatives to elevate and promote our profession across the state of Michigan.
Together, we’ve built meaningful connections with peer organizations, opening doors to shared educational opportunities and collaborative participation in conferences and seminars. We’ve shown up—at conferences, in vendor exhibits, and in conversations—promoting our work with energy and pride (and yes, with those special fancy aluminum solo cups!).
We’ve developed collateral materials to support our members in presentations, press releases, and onboarding packets for new council members. We’ve made sure our presence is felt at MTA, MML, and MAC events, and most recently, we’ve begun exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance our advocacy efforts—ensuring we’re not just keeping up but staying ahead of the curve.
While I’m stepping down as chair, I’m not stepping away. I’ll continue to serve on the committee and support our shared mission. I’m excited to pass the baton to Jeremy Howard, a talented administrator from mid-Michigan, who I know will bring fresh energy and vision to this role.
Thank you for your continued commitment to making our association a respected and vital force—one that champions integrity, honesty, transparency, and effectiveness in all we do.
Peace Out,
Pat McGinnis
