Professional Coach Services

By Rebecca Fleury

Have you ever had an issue either – personal or professional -that you could use a little help with? Perhaps this issue goes beyond what you are comfortable sharing with colleagues or co-workers.The Professional Development Committee (PDC) has heard this is an area in wihch our MME members may need assistance.

With the support of the MME Board, we are offering members the opportunity to meet with a professional coach when necessary. A professional coach is one that has received International Coach Federation (ICF) training and has extensive experience working through personal and professional challenges. The PDC has selected two professional coaches who have experience working with municipal managers. Mary Jo Asmus and Scott Patchin have been present at several of our Winter Institutes and provided coaching support.

Our profession is unique and we hope members find it helpful to connect with a professional coach that understands the demands of our jobs. The MME Board has graciously provided funds to offer to our members as scholarships to use toward a professional coach. The application is available on the MME website under the Professional Development Tab. It is quick and easy to complete and the PDC will get an answer to you quickly. There are no deadlines as the application is open year round. Your information will be kept confidential. We encourage all members to consider this support tool. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me at rlfleury@battlecreekmi.gov.
