Professional Development Committee Update

2020 Summer Conference Cancelled – What is next for Professional Development?
While it is disappointing that the 2020 MME Summer Workshop is cancelled due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the Professional Development Committee will be working to identify valuable virtual training opportunities to bring to MME members in the summer and fall of 2020. We look forward to making announcements regarding this in the upcoming months.

Troy to Host 2022 Winter Institute
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) issued a request for proposals (RFP) to southeast Michigan communities to host the 2022 winter institute put on by MME. The 2022 winter institute location is scheduled to be southeast Michigan per the MME winter institute location policy. The committee reviewed the submissions at our March 5 meeting and selected Troy to host the 2022 winter institute. The committee felt strongly that it was important to visit a council-manager form of government community as opposed to a community that may be more walkable. The committee selected Troy over submissions from Novi, Detroit, and Port Huron.
